Guest Tutorial: Chair Makeover with "The Toasted Coconut"

Hi, everyone! I'm Emily from

I started my own Etsy shop in May last year, and am loving it!
Here is a sample of what you will find there~

I would love for you to come check it out. =)
Ok, so I pretty much LOVE Erin's blog and am so excited to be guest blogging over here

Today I'm going to show you a little chair makeover I did...

I got this chair off Craig's List for just a few dollars! You should have seen my husbands face when I came home with it. :)

I forgot to take a picture of it before I started sanding it...but you get the idea.

It's now the perfect fit for my new vanity (seen here).
(The true color is a pale butter yellow, some of the pictures are a little overexposed...sorry!)

It's easy (and usually inexpensive) to get second-hand furniture and turn it into something completely wonderful!

All I had to do to this chair was rough it up a bit with some sand paper, and then paint it.

I wanted to "shabby" it up a bit, so I distressed it with sand paper.
(For best results, make sure to wait 24-48 hours
after painting to do this step)

Easy Peasy!
Here are a few more things you can see over at my blog...

Thanks!
P.S. I also have facebook- if you like to keep updated that way! =)

  1. I LOVE the chair cover, so adorable! It is amazing how making something that is not so attractive, your favorite thing to look at. Thanks for sharing.
